Children’s Schola
Una Voce Westchester is pleased to announce the formation of a Children’s Schola to help provide for the musical formation of the many children who are an integral part of the Sleepy Hollow Latin Mass community. Rehearsals, which begin September 16th, will be held most every Sunday after Mass for 30 minutes. The principles of the ingenious Ward Method will help the children grow in musical competence by means of work in intonation, sight singing, rhythmic exercises, dictation, and conducting. Once the Children’s Schola has attained a good level of proficiency in singing some of the basic chants of the Church, they will be invited to join the men of the Sleepy Hollow Schola Cantorum in rendering the Mass Ordinaries for Sung Mass about once every month.
All children who have attained reasonable fluency in reading English and whose families can make a commitment to the schedule of weekly classes are warmly welcomed to join; no prior musical experience is necessary.
